Ginny Dolores, ASW

You, yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe, deserve your love and affection.
– Buddha
Hey there, I’m Ginny Dolores (she/her; they/them), a first-generation Filipinx/a/o American, survivor, queer asexual, woman of color. Being a woman of color, I felt that I could never measure up to eurocentric beauty standards, nor did I fit the stereotype of being an intelligent Asian. This made me think that I wasn’t good enough. As a survivor, I know the pain, shock, and fear from the trauma and the isolation that comes with it. I have a deep understanding of the suffering that comes with not being accepted as a member of multiple marginalized communities. Through the help of my therapist, I learned how to accept myself — to be witnessed, heard, and held.
I became a therapist because I know how it feels to be in the depths of darkness. As your therapist, I will cultivate with you a safe and nonjudgmental environment. I will listen and hold space for you. I believe that you are the expert in your own life.
You have everything within you to heal. I am merely a humble guide on your journey.
When working together, we will use somatic, trauma-informed, and cognitive-behavioral therapies as well as mindfulness and yogic techniques to facilitate you on the road to the healthiest version of yourself. We will also explore societal factors that have impacted your well-being.
You deserve to be understood and accepted for who you are. Your story is sacred, and it matters.
I received my Master’s in Social Work in 2021 from California State University, Los Angeles. I am trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Expressive Arts, Trauma-Informed Care, Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) Aware, Trauma and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder Among Older Adults, Creating a Safe Space for LGBTQIA+ Older Adults, Sexual Health and Older Adults, Critical Race Theory, and Cultural Humility. I have provided mental health and case management services in La Primaria Elementary School and in Special Service for Groups (SSG) Sustaining Independent Lives with Vital Empowering Resources (SILVER). I am also a certified yoga teacher and received my training from Loyola Marymount University in 2018.
